I came upon this scene while traveling through Northwest Illinois. The shadows on the dirt road are what struck me the most.

- Born in the Ukraine, I became a US citizen in 1957. After graduating from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, I studied at the Art Institute. My focus is landscapes in oil. Traveling through the Midwest, I take photographs, sketch and make notes that assist me back in my studio. My hope is that viewers will come away with the realization that there is beauty all around us in simple and ordinary scenes.
This is one of my favorite paintings. The differences in light and shadow are beautiful. I feel like sitting down by the tree in the foreground and just relaxing.
